A while ago I was using wireshark and I noticed that something was about every 5 seconds requesting the DNS to resolve the host "tedkamble.no-ip.org"

After it did that it would send two syn messages, eventually I just set that host name to 127.0.0.1 and forgot about it. But I got curious again and found out it was iexpore.exe sending the requests, and it was the actual iexplore.exe from MS.

I kept trying to close iexplore.exe, but it kept restarting. I checked if it was started by a suspicious process, but it was started by explorer.exe. I'm certain this isn't normal behavior but I do not know how to resolve it, any help is appreciated.

Just to see if I can speed up cleaning this, I found out that that msnmsg.exe in my roaming file has something to do with this keylogger, I would just delete it but I'm not sure if doing that will clean up my system entirely.

    hi,

dont recognize anything that looks like malware in the log except one item. what about malware scans, coming up clean? you can use the netstat cmd or TCPview to check tcp/udp endpoints. a software firewall for outbound filtering may also help.

    the item:

start HJT, click the "Scan" button. check the items below, close any open windows, then click "Fixed checked"

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [{C2E5F1DF-7CC2-18EB-7DA8-7E2A44D9A71C}] C:\Users\PatrickT\AppData\Roaming\msnmsg.exe

i would navigate to the folder and delete the .exe
or you could upload it here first for another opinion:
    http://www.virustotal.com/

    send two syn messages
    trojan contacting server

It was coming up clean on my AVG and everything else I scanned it with. I scanned it on virus total and was told immediately it was bad. Problem was whenever I deleted it and end processed iexplore.exe (it attached itself to iexplore.exe to send the syn messages) msnmsg.exe would come back about 10 seconds later. But I will delete it the way you told me to.
