Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)

All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

    Cannot run Spybot, Winantivirus2006
<<< could you start by explaining what you are saying here? Why would you be trying to run Winantivirus2006?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WinAntiVirus2006
WINAntiVirus2006 is a malware product that belongs to the SpyAxe family. Once it is downloaded, a trojan horse will infect the target computer. It does not delete any viruses.
It is the successor of the illegitimate spyware program that has infected many PCs via drive-by downloads and probably has similar effects on PCs as winantivirus or 'winfixer' 2005.
Provide more information, symptoms, error messages word for word.

    Thanks

I appologize for my miscommunication. I actually cannot install or run Spybot Search and destroy because of WinAntirus2006. I did not install it, my cousin did... The pc is super slow to respond, doesn't allow Spybot to be installed/run or any other antispyware I have tried could not be installed.

I did read somewhere on here about changing the name of the exe file of HJT (because some malware can block it?) but I have not tried that... the HJT file I have posted was while the HJT program had the default program file path.

So to recap I'm stuck with Antivirus2006 on that machine, probably more than just that but I cannot run SD because I do not know how to remove it without SD! I read some very intelligent posts at this forum and I am currently posting here on a different machine.

Thanks for the information, I am beginning to understand. Spybot is a great program, but it will not remove a Vundo infection which Usually comes with Winantivirus2006. My problem is I don't see Winantivirus2006 or Vundo in this HJT log. Have you looked in Add Remove programs to see if Winantivirus2006 is there? Let's do this.
Follow these instructions in the numbered order.

    1) Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
    Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
(You may edit out Microsoft, Hotfixes, Security Update for Windows XP,
Update for Windows XP and Windows XP Hotfix to shorten the list
    )

    2) C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\ <<< Java needs to be updated, see this: http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.p...80&postcount=2

    3) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

    4) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
    http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

    5) C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe <<< return here and rename HJT.exe, call it ww4aa.exe that will work. Hackers hide their junk from HJT and we may be able to see an infection after a restart.

    6) Start > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs and uninstall Winantivirus2006. Uninstall any other program you know does not belong there.

    7) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://search.alot.com/sidebar?pr=asst&client_id=5E6038F001C7E9E7013A6FBA&install_time=28-08-2007:22:50&src_id=11003&tb_version=1.0.1.0&q=$4.99&url=http://www.yahoo.com/ (obfuscated)

    O24 - Desktop Component 0: (no name) - http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/...l/field_bg.jpg

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

    8) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
    Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

    9) Keep your cousin away from your computer.

Restart and post a new HJT log along with the uninstall list.

    Thanks

I looked in Add remove programs and there is nothing there for WinAntivirus, however, in the control panel there is a WinAntivirus2006 Icon.

This is done.... I wasn't sure if you wanted me to restart at this point or not in the context so I did just in case.

    6. WinAntivirus is EVIL!!!! I followed instructions, no WinAntivirus present, but... when "uninstalling anything I did not recognize" I found that Winantivirus was uninstalling under "Companion Wizard"... why do sick people out there have to do this kind of junk?

    7. Done All me

    8. Done All me

    9. Oh yes... my cousin has earned himself his very own "Special Account" once I've decided he's allowed to know that password... This sux and thank you for your help! YOU GUYS/GALS WHO HELP US OUT HERE.... FTW!!!!!!

I Restarted and happen to look in the control panel winantivirus2006 has welcomed itself back...

Let's have combofix take a look for us, please follow the directions carefully.

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Remove any old copies of combofix before you proceed.

Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

It is important that it is saved directly to your Desktop

Download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop
    • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
    • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post the combofix log and a new HJT log.

I suppose that will work, I am only running combofix to look for the WinAntivirus program, it usually picks up on it. I also think this is a problem:
    C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\70a4fbe7217488f673cf5d20367dabc9\update\update.exe

I checked the download and it is 2.06 MB's so the usb drive will need to have enough space for that.

    Thanks

Should I just try and delete this? I'm not sure if it will come back or not so I'll wait to do anything on that.

I don't know if this is important or not but I had an error window pop up when I came back to the computer (it is something that comes up at startup as well) It is like the following:

    [VPNgui.exe - Application Error]
X The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click on OK to terminate the application.

Again maybe nothing... but I don't want to rule out any error windows or things that might be fake or whatever.

Thanks for the combpofix log, the tool did find some other junk, and the item I was concerned about appears to be gone. How is this computer running?

    VPNgui.exe <<< that's a valid process, not malware.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/star...i.exe-813.html
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...or&btnG=Search

    From here:
    O23 - Service: Cisco Systems, Inc. VPN Service (CVPND) - Cisco Systems, Inc. - C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\cvpnd.exe
If that error occurs again, I would contact Cisco Systems, Inc. for instruction.

C:\VundoFix Backups <<< delete that folder

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\ <<< xcheck Java for and update, see this:
    http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.p...80&postcount=2

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - (no file)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Winantivirus2006 <<< I see no evidence of this item anywhere? Could you tell me again what program is showing it to you.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop
    http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

    * Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
    * Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    * Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
    * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    * Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    * When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
    * Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.

    Thanks...Phil
