Angry coolWWWsearch and oh much much more

    Hi,

I have a similar problem to what SANT999 posted. Tried Ad Aware, SpyBot S&D etc. and various virus programs. This thing keeps coming back. I am new to this, so I may have pressed the wrong button every now and then....just hope I haven't messed the Registry up all together. Here's the HijackTHis log as per forum guidelines.

Tried everything (spybot S&D, Ewildo, Ad Aware, Defender etc.etc.) to get rid of coolWWWsearch but nothing worked. PC eventually came to a grinding halt and I ended up reinstalling XP. So far I have found Trend Micro's HouseCall search the most thorough and effective.

BTW, if anyone else finds themself in my prodicament and needs to reinstall XP on a Dell, try pressing Control F11 BEFORE (literally as the comp. powers up) start-up. This innitiates Dell's internal Restore feature (same as Semantic's Ghost) and your system can be reset to when you unpacked it. BEWARE, however, that you will loose all files, applications etc. that you have added.

    What a world.

Yes, problem solved - thanks LonnyRJones.

Thanks for the further advice - my life just got a whole lot more complicated!! Up until a few days ago I had no idea what these little buggers are capable of. What's that they say about ignorance?

    Thanks again.
