Bizarre error

so, I downloaded S&D a while ago but I never really used it.

I recently opened up and tried to scan for problems it tells me to "install the detection updates first by using the integrated updater or the manual updater" so I go to the update button, click "search for updates" and it tells me I need no further updates, but when I go back to checking for problem it still tells me I need to update.

what the hell is wrong?
