please help mr. clueless

Hello, we have started to have problems with our browser and searching (particuarly google). i've run S&D(1.3) several times and kept seeing entry of pipas.A. i have now updated S&D to v1.4 and it does not detect anything. i have to go back to links on google at least 3 times before i get to the page i want and also there is some sort of flash program running that makes the toprhand corner of web pages appear to fold down and when you hover the mouse over it reveals a WEB search box- this is some way linked to my pop-up blocker as it does not appear when i allow pop-ups. ideas anyone?
