    Default Spybot Problem

    Hello,

Since upgrading to the newest Spybot, when I restart/boot my computer the folder where Spybot is stored on my computer opens.

How can I get it to stop doing this? It's really annoying seeing it open everytime I boot.

    Thanks!

    katie_fleming:

Did you rename the default installation path from the following to something else?
    • C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy

Where do you have Spybot installed?

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition running on a 2.40GHz IntelŪ PentiumŪ 4 Processor with 512 MB of RAM and a 533 MHz System Bus.

    katie_fleming:

Please go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > System Startup. Right click on the listing and select "Copy to Clipboard". Paste (Ctrl+V) those results to a new post in this thread.

    katie_fleming:

I'm sorry but I did not see anything in the startup list that would cause the opening of the folder when you reboot.

The only thing that I can suggest is that you uninstall Spybot according to the instructions in How to uninstall?. After you have uninstalled, please make sure that you download and run this very small fix to ensure that the registry entries for Spybot have been deleted. Then reinstall using the spybotsd160.exe installation program that can be downloaded from Mirror selection - The home of Spybot-S&D!.

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.

I uninstalled, ran that exe patch, downloaded the newest Spybot, installed, rebooted....folder still pops up on start-up.

    Hello,

What happens if you delete the TeaTimer.exe from the startup?

    Best regards

That did it! The folder doesn't show up on startup now. That's great, thank you!
