Post Warnings on XP password disable

I know I'm a late-comer on this thread, but would just like to add re the warnings on the XP password setup change. Having done that for my older machine some years ago, I have not ever noticed any sort of sudden increase in hijacks, or viruses, etc.
This does work a treat, and it is just lamentable that MS (again !) hasn't ever worked on or fixed this. It's a complaint about XP that people have butted heads with for years. Like I say, I've never noticed it to cause a problem and do have a lot of malware detecting and anti-virus running constantly.

BIG NB(!): If you do go ahead and create a password for a user acct in XP, you cannot then later undo that and go back to a blank password for that account. You'll be stuck with having to use a password from thereon out; hence, I've always much preferred to just go the route described herein.

BTW, can anyone tell me why the restriction in these forums to not allow one to edit a post ?
