    Default More Virtumonde (I think)

Just done a fresh install on Windows, and seems I've got Virtumonde. And to think I rarely had any before, and this time I installed AVG/Spybot etc and still got something in the first couple days. I wasn't even going on websites I don't normally go on.
    Sorry, just annoyed.

The only problem I've seen is this:

    And another process running.

I've run Symantec FixVundo, FxVundoB, VirtumundoBeGone and VundoFix, as well as Ad-Aware, Spybot and AVG. At first they found them, tried to get rid of them. A few restarts later, including safe mode, and they said nothing was there. Yet it is obvious there is.

    This is virtumonde, right?

You're probably getting annoyed with all the virtumonde help, sorry for another one.

    Update

Forgot to mention I installed SP3 and all other updates.

And on Display (right click desktop or CP), I'm missing the screensaver and wallpaper tabs.

Might reformat again as I haven't got much to lose. Help is still much appreciated though.

    Hi

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix tool:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

    Please continue as follows:

    1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link
      Remember to re-enable them afterwards.

    2. Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

    C:\ComboFix.txt
    New HijackThis log.

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

    Hi Blade81,

    Firstly, thanks for your reply.

When I tried to install the Recovery Console, first it said my Windows is newer and I needed to reinstall, then went on to installing it. I have dial up however, and so the update would take absolutely ages.

Also, after running Spybot/FixVundo etc multiple times on multiple boots, the problem seems to have gone away. I've actually just noticed it; the wallpaper hijack has gone, and now I run Spybot etc they no longer find anything.

    Sorry for wasting your time.

    Hi

Might still be a good idea to run ComboFix since I suspect there're still some bad items left.

OK. What about the Recovery System? Just not install it (I think it'd take hours, and my internet crashed every 2 hours, effectively making it impossible).
