    Question Locating Outdated software

    Hi folks
I dont think this is the right place for this question. (I need to download some software) But Blade 81 was so helpful and knowledgeable in helping me fix my PCs last month, I thought He or anyone else might enjoy the challenge

I bought a web cam from a yard sale over the weekend for $4.00(US). No Drivers or Software. I go to the web and come up with this site which has the drivers and the software package. http://www.softsci.com/veodrivers.htm
I have model no. 330V so I download those drivers fine. But when I go to download the software package, I get this:
    Port Restricted for Security Reasons
This address uses a network port which is normally used for purposes other than Web browsing. Firefox has canceled the request for your protection.
Now, I went to Mozilla to see if I can open or remove the Port restriction but no luck.
I guess my question is this: Are there any files at this site:ftp://61.218.233.124:20/vds_5.17w.zip. and if so is there another way to access them?

    Hi there,

Mozilla has the information on Port Blocking as it affects their browsers.

    Why was that?

Hope that helps, but please be careful about downloading a zip via ftp from unknown sources.

The IP you are trying to connect to is an address in Taiwan.

Softsci.com aka Software Science, Inc., is a privately-held California corporation.

    Best regards.

    Post Hi Tashi

That's where I went originally. Created a new key in the config section of my browser per the instructions. With port 20 being the port to override. Still no luck accessing that ftp file.
I wrote the tech support guys at Softsci.com and here's the reply:
The Veo stingray is no longer manufactured and we do not support the camera.
Could you access the file? Is there anything there? Or am I just wasting my time?

The only place I have seen vds_5.17w.zip is at Warez/Cracked, sites.

Not only is it illegal to modify software in such a manner, it's a great way to pick up nasty infections.

I'd suggest staying away from them.

    Best regards.

    Default Hi Tashi

Alright. We'll trash it then. Just thought I could get the thing to work. Oh well, 4.00 bucks lost. No big deal. Thanks for the info.
