    yeh, was just looking that one up (sprtcmd) on the internet to see what it was - showing a lot of activity in task manager

    .. correction sprtsvc and sprtcmd was what was showing in task manager

    disabled Mcafee and tried to install virusalert - nothing happened, but the reoccuring program dsc hasn't started

    Please download the Registry Search tool by clicking on the "hard drive" icon halfway down this page:
    http://www.billsway.com/vbspage/
    Save it to the desktop and run it. If you get an alert from your antivirus about scripting, choose to allow the script to run. Search for VIRUS ALERT! and click OK. Post the logfile from the tool here for me.

    another delay, when i went back to normal mode from posting in safemode dsc began posting again

    ran hjt and fixed

    running regsearch now

    can i just use a flashdrive between the bad computer and one i am typing on to post hjt and download the programs you have been asking me to run

    or do i run risk of infection?

    great that should speed thins up

    i clicked on regsearch and typed in virus alert! in the box and hit ok

    nothing seems to be happening, but i do have regedit.exe in the task manager drawing 50% of CPU - i assume that is it

    just killed all mcafee and agin in task manager and have nearly 100% for regedit
