Default Your opinion required! formatting laptop...

    Hey guys..
Firstly, if i posted in the wrong section, please excuse me =)

Ok, straight to the point.. Im about to bring an old laptop overseas for my studies.. and its about 4 years old( i think ). Its a fujitsu P series lifebook..
Anyways, i was wondering if i should format it? cuz its a tad bit slow.. It works fine but there seems to be quite a few unknown programs on it. So i was thinking by formatting it would be all new again =/

Are there any consequences of formatting? will it damage the laptop?
or i should just uninstall stuffs and do some deleting..

    thx!

you can start with uninstalling programs you dont need on your computer and see if it is faster after doing that and maybe you can use ccleaner or something like that too. i use revo uninstaller because the programs uninstallers doesnt remove everything.

Personally if I had the original CDs I'd go with a reformat, an older laptop with who knows what is on it could be asking for trouble.

You might want to check with Fujitsu first for the best result.

    Good luck.

As we don't know what is on the hardrive or if the original owner previously defragged on a regular basis, (if at all), that would be guessing.
