Can't get rid of this.... please help....

For some reason whenever I run CCleaner, I keep getting these "DFC5A2B2.tmp""~DF3D6F.tmp""DF78D.tmp""~DF9A0B.tmp".

I've ran spydoctor, ewido, spybot, windowsdefender, ccleaner, Cleanup! 4.0 all in safemode, but this keeps coming back.... is it a virus or what is it???

Hi

files are created at boot by your monitor and are not malicious...

You can delete them, but more will be created every time you reboot...

Your log's clean... but you have items unticked in msconfig ... by unticking them, they are hidden from hijackthis...

They may be malware, or just programs you don't want to run at startup.

Normally when items are unticked in msconfig, it is because you "the user" has unticked them... sounds like you haven't ?

This is the entry in hijackthis, which shows you are running in selective startup (items unticked)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfig] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe /auto

Please do this :-

Go to start > run > type msconfig & click OK

System configuration utility opens ... click the startup tab

If you have any lines unticked, make a note of the startup item

Let me know it's name (names) I'll tell you whether you need to re-tick it, so that we can remove it.

I did what you said.... msconfig in run, under startup tab, everything is checked..... do you think this came up

Because I ran (hijack this) in safemode??? I used msconfig to run in safe mode, and then I ran (hijack this)

I used, msconfig.... boot.ini
checked /safeboot
so it would run in safe mode....

For some reason when I restart the cpu and I wait for the cpu to beep, and I keep pressing F8, it never brings me up to the safemode option.... it always just ask, "Where do you want to boot the system from" and it gives me the option of C drives, floppy's, cd-rom's... etc....
That's why I run safemode in msconfig...

But anyways... do you think that is why I'm getting the

If what you say is in fact what is happening, then I didn't know (you're always learning something new in this game)

Would you do this for me please...

Run hijackthis in Normal mode and see if that line is still there...

If it is, then reboot again still Normal mode

Run hijackthis again and see if it's still there ?

It seems to have disappeared in Normal mode.... must be it....

O23 - Service: X10 Device Network Service (x10nets) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\ATIMUL~1\RemCtrl\x10nets.exe (file missing)

This is not a malware entry, it is\was a legitimate service ... sometimes hijackthis gets it wrong with (file missing) & and the file isn't missing... it will do no harm to leave the entry.
