Default Vista, FF, and Spybot don't get along

I have 2 systems. The desktop is running XP Home SP3, FF 2.0.6 (not eager to go to FF 3) and Spybot 1.6.0. My laptop runs on Vista Home Premium SP1, FF 2.0.6 and Spybot 1.6.0. When I immunize on the laptop the IE immunization works completely but nothing in Firefox is immunized under any category. I tried playing with different versions of FF and Spybot. Anyone have a solution to this problem?

    Hello,

    Please try the following:
    Go to the folder:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox
    or:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Netscape\Navigator\Profiles\randomid.default\
There please delete the permissions.sqlite and generate a new file for the hostperm.1 that is empty.
    Now please immunize again.
    That should solve the problem.

This information is also available in this thread:

That is a sample filepath to find that file on XP. Where would it be on Vista? I have tried using the search function but its a POS on Vista.

    Hi irgrunt,

    Under Vista the file-path is: (I think - I use FF3 )

    C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\RANDOM.default

You should find a 'permissions.sqlite' there - Then follow mavchen's instructions from the previous post

Thank you kind sirs. The advice worked. All I had to do was delete the permissions.sqlite file and then Spybot worked just like it is supposed to.

The hardest part was finding the file itself. I couldn't navigate through regular Windows. I would get to Users and not see AppData. So to find it I beefed up the search options and used that to find the file. Thanks again.
