Still having an issue i hope you can help me with.
But let me first say thanks for all your help before. I didn't forget about you - just Julian's computer. Julian and i work int he Financial Industry and since September we have been a little busy to say the least. I started to finish our little project after you left the long list of instructions, but the bottom fell out of the market and work comes before helping a friend on his computer.
over the past couple of weeks i spent an couple of hours each week following your instructions. The comp is running near normal (as normal as a 4-5 year old comp can run). No more issues being detected by Spybot, Ad-Aware, McAfee, or Malwarebytes. oh, and i just deleted that empty "common" folder and that stopped it from openning.
the thing is though, i cannot get rid of a google line on HJT. There is only one folder on the computer that has anything to do with google and it is DSC folder (dell service center) "C:\Program Files\Dell Support Center\gs_agent\custom". i deleted the google part of it and it just reappeared at startup. i've done some research and i'm thinking DSC may be corrupt; if you recall (see bottom of page 5 of original post) we had some issue with DSC opening 100s of times.
