    Default Google redirect malware

    Phil:

First: Thanks for all your help.

The problem was that I was being redirected when I clicked on a Google search result. This was still happening when I posted my last reply. However, since the reply I rebooted and the problem seems to have stopped.

    Thanks, Mike

OK Mike, sometimes it takes a reboot for changes to go into effect and MBAM removed a lot of junk. I asked this question and it does not appear I got an answer.
    Are you using a router?

Let's continue a bit more, first remove (delete) SDFix from the computer. It's a great program but it targets specific bots, does not update and should be used only with supervision.

Now update MBAM and scan again making sure you Perform full scan MBAM quarantines what it finds, and like any program, mistakes can be made. After a few days when you are sure the computer is running well without what was removed, then click the Quarantine Tab and Delete All that is in there. Because the scum who spread this junk block MBAM from downloading. Keep it up to date on the Desktop (not running unless you purchase it) in case you need it.

Please also update Trend and scan the system, if all is well at this point, let me know and I will close this topic.

Default Google redirect malware - Issue resolved

    Phil:

MBAM, Trend and Spybot found nothing.

    The problem has not reappeared.

I do have a router for my home network. The machine with the problem is the portal machine, but all the other machines that use the router are symptom free. In addition, I have security on the router and do not use default passwords.

Thank you very much for your expert assistance and time. I will support Spybot in the future.

    Mike
