    Default rundll32.exe module not found

    HELP with windows/system32/kowtrkhx.dll

Will spybot eliminate this error? I have not found this problem anywhere on the net. Help

I recently uninstall Norton and installed AVG free antivirus. AVG found a virus Generic12.ngi and repaired. AVG says I am free of any Virus. Now on "boot up" I get a "rundll module not found".

In my System configuration Utility- startup

    the following startup item appears

    kowtrkhx rundll32.exe "c:/windows/system32/kowtrkhx.dll",b

    Location software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run

If I uncheck and apply --- next time I boot up I get an unknown device in my device manager. (not sure what device this is - haven't determined what device doesn't work.)

How do I eliminate the "dll module not found error."

    Also what is this kowtrkhx.dll

    relevant info

my rundl32l.exe is found in /system32 and /servicepackfiles/i386 directories 33KB in both

    I am running XP SP3

    Thanks

    Hello stlevil,

It appears AVG removed the file and not the value.

Someone should take a look at the system to see if the vundo infection is still lurking and help clean up.

Please follow the procedure in this link: "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance)

Then start your own thread in the Malware Removal Forum where a helper will advise you as soon as available.

    Cheers.
