Default blue screen scanning with 2008-11-19 update

Sorry if i have posted in the wrong forum.
I have used Spybot for a long time.
I finally got rid of a virus using Panda online.
I updated to 2008-11-19 of spybot.
    I ran spybot.
I got the blue screen and system dump.
In case it was a sector error, I ran diskcheck with sector scan, no errors.
I re-ran spybot and got the blue screen again.
I have a PIII, win XP SP2, 18gb of data.
Last ran spybot 10 days ago, no spyware detected, took about 5 hours.
The blue screen happens after 4 hours, I know it is in a section that only has data.
There were no spyware detected and it was scanning something like virtual scb
Because of the blue screen there is no spybot log.

Can I provide more information for you?

because Spybot takes so long, is there a way to suspend scan and resume scan?

    thanks for you great work.

    wmbrae:

What version of Spybot - Search & Destroy are you running (Spybot » Help » About)?

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.

Consider upgrading to Spybot 1.6 and see if that helps (I don't know if it will cure the blue screen but it is certainly faster than Spybot 1.5). The downloads are located here:

One more thing, because of the virus, my computer was running slow, so I installed Opera browser, since the last successful Spybot scan. Until then, Firefox was my primary brower and Spybot would spend 45 minutes scanning bookmarks. Opera had copied all bookmarks but I don't think Spybot had gotten that far yet.
I had the virus for several months and I would think that Spybot has run in the presence of the virus.
So the major changes since the last run of Spybot were
Panda virus scan and removal of 1 virus
    Install of Oper browser

    Upgraded to 1.6
    Program ran to completion.

For you information, scanning of spyware was faster, but because I installed Opera, there were two sets of bookmarks to scan, which is very slow, so it took longer to run 1.6 than 1.5.

    Thanks.

    PS.
It may be that running 1.5 with updates 11-19-2008 will cause the blue screen.

Default blue screen scanning with 1.6

I downloaded the latest release and updates of Spybot-S&D today and ran the scan. I got the blue screen initially when I reached about 112000 (out of 346395) searches and the last item I saw before I got that screen was Virtumonde. So, I restarted the scan and stopped it just before reachding 110,000 and removed the identified items and had S&D start scanning on Windows startup. This time it reached 135,000 items and then when Virtumonde (not sure about the spelling) is reached I got the blue screen again. Here is the memory address displyed:
    STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005.0x804EF196,0xF712EC30,0x00000000)

Windows XP media center edition w/ Service Pack 3
2G RAM, 2.8 GH pentium cpu

    Any help is apperciated

    Omer
