    Red face What is Mway.MywebSearch?

What is Myway.MywebSearch? and What does it do?
Is it dangerous or harmful to my PC or Personal information?
How is it usually loaded to your PC?

From reading some of the posts it appears to be very difficult to remove from your PC especially if you are just turn on/click/ PC person.

I run an HP with XP 2000 Pro SP3.

What advice suggestion would you offer?
    Thanks
    Ron

    Switchman05:

Myway.MywebSearch is a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program).

    See their data collection policies:

    Help information here:

From their General Toolbar Help page:

How do I "uninstall" the My Web Search toolbar?
You can easily uninstall the My Web Search toolbar using the instructions below:

    • Close all open Web browsers
    • From the "Start" menu in Windows, select "Control Panel"
    • Select "Add/Remove Programs"
    • Select "My Web Search Bar"
    • Click "Change/Remove"

Now just follow the simple instructions and the My Web Search toolbar will be uninstalled. Should you reopen your Web browser and still see the My Web Search toolbar, you may need to restart your computer for the uninstall process to be completed.

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.

One reason to list it is that it does not remove everything on uninstall

    See removal guide

Thank you both for your replies.
MD USA - I tried that and it doe not appear in the list.
PepiMK - For my limited knowledge (just a point and click kind of guy)
that's way to complicated for me.

When I run Spybot it shows just 2 files, removes one but say it can't remove the other. It may have come in from ASK.Com. I deleted the Ask.com toolbar and Spybot still detects MyWay.Mywebsearch.

Again my original questions: Is it dangerous? Can it hurt my PC? Does it track and send off personal information?

SpyBot flagged it and I became concerned because it can't remove it. So what can a simple minded man like me do?

    Please help and advise
    Thanks

Myway.MywebSearch is a PUP (possibly unwanted program) program like md usa spybot fan mentioned earlier. If it does not show up in your Add/Remove Programs window, have Spybot remove it in Safe Mode. Be sure to update Spybot with the latest definitions in Normal Boot before running in Safe Mode.

MywebSearch wouldn't really harm your computer, but it will harm your privacy. What it does is that it builds a report, collecting information about your surfing habits and the sites you go to and send it to a central server. To me, that is an invasion of privacy because it has no right and is unauthorized to do such a thing without user consent.
