Description:
Marketflip.FakeSearchAndDestroy tries to trick the user with a similar name of the well known antispyware application "Spybot - Search and Destroy". When Marketflip.FakeSearchAndDestroy is installed on the computer it tries to make the user believe that the comuter is infected with hundreds of malware issues. When the user wants to clean the system he has to purchase a licence. Marketflip.FakeSearchAndDestroy is in close relation to NoAdware and Registryfix, both well known rogue antispyware tools.
Removal Instructions:

Desktop:

Please remove the following files from your desktop.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.
  • Shortcuts named "Search And Destroy.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Search And Destroy\Search*And*Destroy*.exe".
  • Shortcuts named "Search And Destroy.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Search And Destroy\Search*And*Destroy*.exe".
  • Shortcuts named "Search And Destroy.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Search And Destroy\*.exe".

Start Menu:

Please remove the following items from your start menu.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.
  • Items named "Search And Destroy.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Search And Destroy\*.exe".
  • Items named "Uninstall Search And Destroy.lnk" and pointing to "<$WINDIR>\Search And Destroy\uninstall.exe".

Autorun:

Important: There are more autorun entries that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Installed Software List:

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.
  • Products that have a key or property named "Search And Destroy5.2".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Search And Destroy\engine.dat".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Search And Destroy\Search And Destroy Setup Log.txt".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Search And Destroy\SSEngine.dll".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Search And Destroy\Search And Destroy.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Search And Destroy\Uninstall\uninstall.dat".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Search And Destroy\Uninstall\uninstall.xml".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\Search And Destroy\uninstall.exe".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\Search And Destroy Setup Log.txt".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Marketflip.FakeSearchAndDestroy uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

  • The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Search And Destroy\Uninstall".
  • The directory at "<$WINDIR>\Search And Destroy".

  • Delete the registry key "MPMFC1" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
