Description:
This fake Antivirus software gets installed by trojan horses. It causes fake messages and urges the user to buy useless software.
Removal Instructions:

Desktop:

Please remove the following files from your desktop.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.
  • Shortcuts named "Rapid Antivirus.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\Rapid Antivirus.exe".
  • Shortcuts named "Rapid Antivirus.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\*.exe".

Start Menu:

Please remove the following items from your start menu.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.
  • Items named "Purchase License.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\Buy.url".
  • Items named "Start Rapid Antivirus.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\Rapid Antivirus.exe".
  • Items named "Start Rapid Antivirus.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\*.exe".
  • Items named "Support Page.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\Help.url".
  • Items named "Uninstall.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\Uninstall.exe".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\Rapid Antivirus\base.dat".
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\Rapid Antivirus\base2.dat".
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\Rapid Antivirus\Desc.dat".
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\Rapid Antivirus\Rapid Antivirus.ini".
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\Rapid Antivirus\spline.dat".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\Buy.url".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\Help.url".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\HowToBuy.txt".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\ID.dat".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\License.txt".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus\Rapid Antivirus.exe".
  • The file at "<$STARTUP>\Rapid Antivirus.lnk".
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\<$REGMATCH1>\base.dat".
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\<$REGMATCH1>\base2.dat".
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\<$REGMATCH1>\Desc.dat".
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\<$REGMATCH1>\spline.dat".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If RapidAntivirus uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.
  • The directory at "<$APPDATA>\<$REGMATCH1>".
  • The directory at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\Rapid Antivirus".
  • The directory at "<$APPDATA>\Rapid Antivirus".
  • The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Rapid Antivirus".
