Description:
This trojan horse runs in background and connects to its malicious websites to download additional installation files. An Internet Explorer BHO labeled as 'IE Update Class' , an 'iSearch' Firefox extension and 2 malicous system start entries get installed. There are also desktop links created which point to malicious or suspicious software and websites.

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "Desktop Search" and pointing to "<$WINDIR>\isrvs\desktop.exe".
  • Entries named "ffis" and pointing to "<$WINDIR>\isrvs\ffisearch.exe".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Mozilla Firefox\extensions\{2bafa858-4ff3-4207-822e-ef46d1b431de}\chrome.manifest".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Mozilla Firefox\extensions\{2bafa858-4ff3-4207-822e-ef46d1b431de}\install.rdf".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Mozilla Firefox\extensions\{2bafa858-4ff3-4207-822e-ef46d1b431de}\chrome\isearch.jar".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\inst\3p_1.exe".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\isrvs\desktop.exe".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If ABetterInternet.iSearch uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

  • The directory at "<$WINDIR>\isrvs\icons".

  • Delete the registry key "delprot" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\".
  • Delete the registry key "delprot" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\".
  • Delete the registry key "delprot" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\".
If ABetterInternet.iSearch uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
