Description:
Once the .chm-file is executed the exe-file embedded within is being executed and connects to Peter Issons domains such as winmsn.com, winprotect.net.
It does not ask for any permission. Also Explorer, Internet Explorer, Regedit or WinMgmt.exe are being launched in background.
Periodically, a tray icon looking like Windows Security Center's yellow shield appears and warns about possible spyware threads encouraging the user to visit certain links.
Sometimes there also is a warning window displayed.
Some websites belonging to Peter Isson are added to the favorites.
This trojan does also use a hidden service to stay persistent.
Supposed Functionality:
This is a chm-file with no stated function. It poses as Windows Security Center.
Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "hgqhp.exe" and pointing to "<$SYSDIR>\hgqhp.exe".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\hgqhp.exe".
  • The file at "<$COMMONFAVORITES>\AdultGambling.url".
  • The file at "<$COMMONFAVORITES>\Free Online Dating.url".
  • The file at "<$COMMONFAVORITES>\FUCK Real Girls.url".
  • The file at "<$COMMONFAVORITES>\Kill Annoying Popups.url".
  • The file at "<$COMMONFAVORITES>\Online Sex Poker Rooms.url".
  • The file at "<$COMMONFAVORITES>\Play Adult-Poker.url".
  • The file at "<$COMMONFAVORITES>\Remove Toolbars.url".
  • The file at "<$COMMONFAVORITES>\Spyware Uninstall.url".
  • The file at "<$COMMONFAVORITES>\SPYWARE.url".
  • The file at "<$COMMONFAVORITES>\XXX personal photos.url".
  • The file at "<$FAVORITES>\AdultGambling.url".

  • A file with an unknown location named "update.exe".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If CoolWWWSearch.WinSecurityCenter uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry key "{D6CC7289-8561-472E-BA8B-1D98D3CAD945}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
  • Delete the registry key "{11212111-2121-1311-1141-115611111222}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\".
If CoolWWWSearch.WinSecurityCenter uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
