Description:
LiveSVC.Wintrim installs its useless plugins in background (user is supposed to need special plugin for flashgames or downloading wallpapers), these plugins do not grant access to the promised content. There is no uninstall option and the user has no control over the plugins. Websites installing these plugins are related to other malware sites. This trojan horse also connects to its malicious servers and transmits crypted data. It may also install components which are hidden from the Windows API (rootkit). If the rootkit functions are active, the windows taskmanager and registry editor are not available. Plugin may contact various adult content sites in background.

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\<$REGMATCH1>.exe".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\Downloaded Program Files\LiveService.inf".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\LiveService.inf".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\LiveService.inf".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If LiveSVC.Wintrim uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry key "{14325268-79E0-4D2A-89A4-FFFC6E22741E}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{2A91CEB1-37F5-424C-997C-4C38A3677CD8}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{50AD557E-3426-41FD-AFDD-2AF39BB1C387}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{72241AD0-9B55-4870-9E72-EBA80C0CB1B8}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{8B936702-C234-40D0-B69C-A2F669A33978}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{8BD9561C-DCE1-4847-91B4-2BDB11EDAE4D}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{DDF44FD9-749F-4761-89BB-E8A59339E459}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{EAAB55CB-9D6E-457A-A10B-4AAEC8317CFC}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{14325268-79E0-4D2A-89A4-FFFC6E22741E}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\".
  • Delete the registry key "{2A91CEB1-37F5-424C-997C-4C38A3677CD8}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\".

  • References to the file "system32/LiveService_" at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ModuleUsage\.
  • References to the file "<$SYSDIR>\LiveService_" at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDlls\.
