Description:
Pretends to be a self-extracting rar archive. On execution the trojan horse connects to the internet in background and submits data about the user and the computer to a russian site. The trojan horse also installs a fake csrss.exe in the Windows directory, which allows this file to pass the windows firewall. It runs in background and starts it via policies at system start.

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\pkeyconfig.xrm-ms".
  • The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\smss.exe".
  • The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\tokens.dat".
  • The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\Vista.exe".
  • The file at "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\Windows.Vista.RTM.Activation.Crack-iND.txt".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\csrss.exe".
  • A file with an unknown location named "Windows Vista All Versions Activation 21.11.06.exe".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If VistaActivation.Trojan uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!
