The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Win32.Agent.byc" manually.

Threat Details:

Win32.Agent.byc copies executable files into the System directories, starts itself in autorun as "Virtual Java", in Winlogon as "Sys Startup" and "Windows start" in order to stay hidden and harm the computer.
Removal Instructions:


Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.


You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry value "Sys Startup" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\".
  • Delete the registry value "Windows start" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\".
  • Delete the registry value "Explorer Options2" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run\".
  • Delete the registry value "Virtual Java" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\".
If Win32.Agent.byc uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
