Description:
This trojan horse installs itself in the System Start with names and files looking similar to legit ones. It runs in background to harm the computer or fool the user.
Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "Mainviewex" and pointing to "<$SYSDIR>\mainviewex.exe".
  • Entries named "LIST HOLD" and pointing to "<$APPDATA>\Mess 2.exe".
  • Entries named "Modeminf" and pointing to "<$SYSDIR>\modeminf.exe".
  • Entries named "WinDriv32" and pointing to "<$SYSDIR>\WinDriv32.exe".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\mainviewex.exe".
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\Mess 2.exe".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\modeminf.exe".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\WinDriv32.exe".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\<$REGMATCH1>.dll".
  • The file at "<$APPDATA>\metaeq\GplData.exe".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Win32.Small.ba uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.
  • The directory at "<$APPDATA>\metaeq".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Win32.Small.ba uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry key "{BCD0AEEA-D301-9AA6-8413-F7B6970F326E}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{BCD0AEEA-D301-9AA6-8413-F7B6970F326E}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
  • Delete the registry value "{BCD0AEEA-D301-9AA6-8413-F7B6970F326E}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellExecuteHooks\".
  • Remove "<regexpr><$SYSDIR>\\(\S{4,8})\.dll" from registry value "" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{BCD0AEEA-D301-9AA6-8413-F7B6970F326E}\InprocServer32\".
If Win32.Small.ba uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.

Browser:

The following browser plugins or items can either be removed directly in your browser, or through the help of e.g. Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer.
