The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Win32.VB.sp" manually.

Threat Details:

Win32.VB.sp copies a malicious executable file into the Windows directory, starts itself in autorun as "DllExecutable" without giving the user a possibility to cancel that process. Also the infected file has a WinWord icon.
Removal Instructions:


Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "DllExecutable" and pointing to "<$WINDIR>\*.exe".


Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.


You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry key "IUWFH" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".
If Win32.VB.sp uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.

INI files:

The following .ini file entries may need corrections. You can open this files in Notepad or any other text editor.
  • Please remove "*" from entry "run" from section "windows" in file "<$WINDIR>\win.ini".
