Uses information collected from you to improve their database. The function of this database is not completely clear, but they will use it to track your location down to your neighbourhood, including geolocated demographic statistics about you.
Privacy Statement:
IPinsight Software generates Line Speed, Geography, Gender/Age estimates, User ID, and IP address information, which it transmits to the IPinsight servers for use in the preparation of the companyís data file products.

Unique Identifier: IPinsight maintains file integrity through the use of a unique random number (GUID) for each user, which is stored in the userís Windows Registry.

P Address: Finally, when you install IPinsight's Software, it collects several bits of information about the configuration of your computer. This information includes information about the computer's hardware configuration, such as the amount of free space on your hard drive, and information about the computer's software configuration, such as the name and version of the operating system.

Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries pointing to "\SENTRY.exe".
  • Entries pointing to "\SENTRY.ini".

Installed Software List:

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.
  • Products that have a key or property named "IPinsight".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\SENTRY.exe".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\TEMP\IPinsight.EXE".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\IP\Install.log".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\IP\unwise.ini".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Verizon Online\VisualIPInsight\IPClient.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Verizon Online\VisualIPInsight\IPMon32.exe".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\IPINSIGT.DLL".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\INF\IPINSIGT.inf".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If IPinsight uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry key "IPInsight" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\".
  • Delete the registry key "{000004CC-E4FF-4F2C-BC30-DBEF0B983BC9}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
  • Delete the registry key "{79E390E0-1AA2-11D7-A4EE-00E0299AC815}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "Mbho.IEHlprObj", plus associated values.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "IPInsigt.IPInsigtObj", plus associated values.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "IPInsigt.IPInsigtObj.1", plus associated values.
  • Delete the registry key "{3CB6DEF9-1DB2-4B5D-9A70-9BF8345ED73C}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • Delete the registry key "{297AFC77-2039-4D3C-BEF9-598819EB2C8A}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • Delete the registry key "{4769DD43-4045-405C-945F-752516445E89}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Typelib\".
  • Delete the registry key "{BE35582C-9796-4CF1-AED9-556ADA120B38}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Typelib\".
  • Delete the registry key "{79E390E0-1AA2-11D7-A4EE-00E0299AC815}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{000004CC-E4FF-4F2C-BC30-DBEF0B983BC9}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • References to the file "ipinsigt.dll" at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDlls\.
If IPinsight uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
