Cliprex Software is bundled with adware like WhenU and Ask.GlobalSearch. Core components for the actual DivX Player are based on freeware under the GNU General Public License (GPL), so Cliprex is actually violating the GPL by not releasing the sources of its other components under the GPL as well.

Please remove the following items from your start quick launch area text to the "Start" button in the taskbar at the bottom.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.
  • Quicklaunch symbols named "Cdivx player.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Cdivx Player\Cdivx.exe".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Cdivx Player\Cdivx.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Cdivx Player\reg.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Cdivx Player\Uninstall.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Cdivx Player\Website.url".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Cdivx Player\Codecs\ac3filter_0_70b.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Cdivx Player\Codecs\ffdshow.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Cdivx Player\Icons\movie.ico".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Cdivx Player\Icons\skin.ico".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Cdivx Player\Skins\default.csk".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If CliprexDivXPlayer uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.
