I went with Zone Alarm, so I have Zone Alarm and Avast working to protect my computer real-time. I'm guessing that's enough for the average computer user to keep things relatively safe?

I've got a system restore back-up of my computer in this virus free state, so hopefully if I ever encounter problems again, a restore will sort it out.

I think it's safe to close this thread now. The viruses are gone and I've got more protection now for the future. Thank you very much for your help.
