http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=4015 Follow the directions carefully, then post the logs in this same thread. I will be notified when you post and respond with instructions as soon as possible after that. There will be more to do, I see some bad stuff not related to the trojan.

Hi Mike, and thank you, you are very welcome. Your thanks is what I work for Thanks also to S!Ri for the fix, it appears to have worked perfectly. There are a couple of items to address, AdwareAlert and a nasty called Netster (016).

Adware Alert: see this >>> http://castlecops.com/startuplist-9265.html until recently this was being installed as part of an infection and they were on the bad list here: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm I am going to guess you did not install this product and remove it, if you did install it, and know it is the new product with is safe, you may pass over the removal instructions, thanks.


1) Start > Control Panel > Add Remove programs and uninstall Adware Alert and any other program you know do not belong there. If you are not sure, tell me and I will look.

2) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

4) If you don't have a good cleaner, use this free one with these instructions:
Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp
Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.

Restart the computer and let me look at a last HJT log. If all is running well, I will have valuable closing information for you and you will be good to go.

and last, there is a Prefetch folder on all Windows XP machines, you must unhide hidden files and folders to see it, that what this link was for:

Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Once you follow these instructions, the Prefetch will be in C:\Windows\

which is an old Norton Antivirus line and you can use HJT to remove it if you wish, it is not a problem.

You can run CCleaner on auto if you wish, but I suggest that is a waste of resources. Turn it off and run it manually once a month or so. The rest of the log is clean and you are good to go.

ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
