There should be recorder and sound volume. Are you able to choose them via
    add or remove windows components?

No, the volume control and recorder options are not available through the accessories & utilities

I've ensured they're all ticked, for example calculator and solitaire, but I don't appear to find it in the start menu or when searching manually using the search option

    This is strange :s

You can try sfc /scannow from start - run (it asks to insert CD).

I've managed to find a download as the scannow option failed to resolve anything - the download has enabled the accessories folder to be restored, however, some of the shortcuts have missing links, whereas some of the apps are corrected on clicking fix now.

I still had a problem with volume control and hyper terminal.
I've re-run sfc /scannow and it resolved volume control but not hyper terminal.

I then did the add/remove windows components and go my games folder back.

Eventually it looks ok, barring the hyper terminal application - what is that anyway??!!

    Again many thanks

    Smile Final Instructions

    Yes I think I'm ready

I cannot install IE7 & have checked the troubleshooting site, however, I understand I can install IE8 but I'll wait until a non-beta version becomes available. I ran an updated application of Malwarebytes' and it came back clean.

Firefox is treating me well and seems much faster, less hanging screens and connection problems - Any related problems I'll address separately with my ISP. All I require is a Google Toolbar for Firefox if there's one available, any ideas? I'm unsure if there's a Firefox version available - Through Filehippo.com perhaps?

All in all I'd like to thank you for your kind help and patience.

    Many thanks
