Default Spybot-S&D - Not really free?

I'm trying to figure out what's going on here. I downloaded Spyware S&D, and made a contribution at the same time, using my PayPal account. I figured it was for a good cause. SpyBot found three instances of spyware on my computer, but now wants another $19.95 to remove them. From everything I read before downloading it, I thought it would find and remove spyware for no charge, even if I hadn't paid anything.

    Did I miss something?

    Thanks,
    John Peters

    Hello.

Where did you download this program, Spybot-S&D is free for personal use and never asks for payment to remove malware.

Default Looks like a case of operator error

I was helping one of my kids who was having pop-up problems on his computer, and another one of my kids with an unrelated problem on his computer. I downloaded SpyBot 1.4 onto my computer (first kid had no network access due to virus/spyware), but apparently lost track of where I was and installed SpyWareBot (instead of SpyBot) onto his computer. That's the program (as best as I can reconstruct the problem, anyway) which was asking for money to fix the spyware it found.

I'm not sure where the SpyWareBot download came from, but I've made sure it's gone now.

Sorry for the confusion, and thank you for your quick response.

Thank you for letting us know.

I would still like to see a HJT log in the malware forum to see if it reveals information on SpyWareBot and if the infection has been completely removed.
