OK I have Avast, Winpatrol, Spywareblaster, MalwareBytes, ThreatFire, PC Tools Firewall Plus, Windows Defender, and Spybot SD. Do I have too many secuirity programs? Is there overlap and is that bad?

I recommend that you use only one of these:

    - Winpatrol
    - ThreatFire
    - Windows Defender

My personal choice would be either Winpatrol or ThreatFire.

What is the difference between the two you recommend?

ThreatFire is more aggressive than WinPatrol. Here is some info about it and here about WinPatrol.

Yes, I recommend that you uninstall other two programs or at least disable them.

I uninstalled windows defender, and I prevented winpatrol from starting up at startup.
