Note: Between the 2009-01-14 and 2009-01-21 updates the number of products increased from 4522 to 4531. In addition the scan count (without beta updates or usage tracks) increased from 367191 to 368506.

A reduction in the number of fingerprints with a reduction in the number of rules and an increase in the number of products = an increase in the scan count.
"Why" or perhaps a better question is "How" is it so?
