    I suspect something is not right with Java stuff since a notice came up about it failing to start or something.
    Hi

    If that still appears note down exact message, please.

    The ComboFix you posted is an old one. Please try to find correct ComboFix.txt file in root of your c: drive (C:\).

    Default Correct ComboFix Report?

    Sorry about that. I think this is the right one. I wasn't aware that the program had been used before. I have banned the dear well meaning husband and teen daughter from my computer.

    Hi

    Yes, that seems to be the correct one

    Show hidden files
    -----------------
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

    Delete items in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5\Quarantine folder.

    Reboot and post a fresh hjt log.

    Default New HJT Log

    Hi Blade81,
    I sure appreciate your help! You folks rock,

    Did as you instructed with no problems. There were 59 items/folders in the Quarantine folder. Hope I was supposed to remove the folders too.

    Was my problem a trojan or virus or...? Name for it?

    Here is the log. Thanks

    Default Don't know if this is Important

    BTW After the reboot the desktop re-populated rather slowly. I also had to make several attempts to get back to the forum and send the last message. We have had snow this AM but it is now melting and the satellite dish has been clear for a while. Don't know if the weather is a factor in the IE issues?

    Hi Sherrie

    I recommend you monitor the situation for 2-3 days and let me know if issues still occur. If not, then I'll give you final instructions.

    Won't go to details about the infection but it was redirector disguised as fake sound driver and used to redirect your search results.

    Default Will monitor for a couple of days

    Hi Blade81,
    Thanks for the info on what my problem was. I wonder how it happened? I will let you know in a couple of days how things are going. Thanks so much for your help up to now! Should I turn my teatimer or anything else back on now? Thanks, Sherrie

    Hi

    TeaTimer can be re-enabled if you wish to do so. However, first make sure TeaTimer settings are resetted:

    Download ResetTeaTimer.bat to the Desktop
    http://downloads.subratam.org/ResetTeaTimer.bat
    Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer (and preventing TeaTimer to restore them upon reactivation).

    Shall wait for your input on performance issue in next couple of days

    Default Performance update

    Hi Blade81,
    I guess I have had enough time to see how things are running now. ;-)

    There are no more redirects going on. Today there were a couple of "cannot connect" messages that seemed out of place but I cannot say if that is a "bug" problem or not. The computer speed is back to what I would expect with my setup. Unless I have picked up something else since we last communicated.... I would say the problems are gone!

    Again, thanks for all your help. If you would like me to do any other scans to be sure or have final directions for me I am happy to await further instructions.

    Sherrie
