Unhappy search slows down the whole system

    Hi,
I'd love RegAlyzer - if I could use it.
If I dare to do anything else on the system while the search is running, RegAlyzer itself and the whole system slow down so much, that only a restart can help (and the shutdown takes several minutes). If I only close RegAlyzer (what also takes several minutes) the system remains extremely slow.

Although the system is so slow and the hard disk seems not to stop any more (even after closing RegAlyzer) the Task Manager doesn't show extraordinary system activity.

    Any idea?
    Thanks.

    RegAlyzer 1.6.0.12
    Windows XP SP3

Does this happen as well when you search with regedit?

Sounds either like a problem with the systems registry handling, or maybe some badly implemented registry monitoring of an antivirus? In both cases, regedit should show the same symptom.

    Hi,
this was not correct. After I found the other threads about regalyzer being stuck and crashed I tried it again.
The earlier described symptom happens anyway, no matter whether I do anything else on the computer or just watch regalyzer searching.

Now I opened the key where the problem started.
Please look at the attachments, what the key looks like in regedit and what in regalyzer. If I open the key in regalyzer it duplicates and duplicates and duplicates and ...
    What is that?

Any idea? I hope this helps to find the bug (in the program or my registry), so that I can use regalyzer in the future.

    Kind regards

This thing should be similar to what is discussed here; I would have guessed the new release (1.6.2.16) skipping 0x00 characters could solve this situation. Did you try that version?

Indeed, it looks like that issue. I tried the new release - unfortunately with the old result. (Please see screenshots)
As you can see the key "DomainProfile" is shown twice in regalyzer, in regedit once.

    Best regards

    Hi PepiMK,

please look also at this screenshot.
The whole key HKLM/System is shown twice.
    Not so in regedit.

    Hi PepiMK,

    new system, old problem.

After setting up a new Windows XP SP3 after a disk crash, regalyzer 1.6.2.16 still shows the same problem.
    What a pitty.
I read you added the issue to the bug tracker.
Is there hope for a soon fix?

    Kind regards
