    Question Spyhunter 3

I note that most of references to this software being dodgy are rather old and wondered if any recent tests have been carried out. I recently aquired a trojan curtesy of a bad exe file from Limewire and sought help on the net. Google came up with Spyhunter 3 and I bought, downloaded, installed and ran the app which successfully removed every trace of the trojan and other crap that was installed by the bad exe file. For good measure I installed spybot which promptly removed Spyhunter!!! I have since reinstalled but am now nervous about using my banking apps until I am confident that this is app is now sound. Does anyone have any up to date info on tests that have been run on this app recently please? What do other users think?

See this post, which sums up the current position nicely.

Threads about SpyHunter might get closed to avoid speculation, since Enigma trolls like to interpret quite far fetched things into posts users made just to threaten. We would not want any of our forum users to get into that trouble.

We do stand up to our classification of SpyHunter though and would not cave in to legal threats like other companies did as long as we are convinced we need to protect our users.

Finally, we do not want to endanger our efforts to force them to get their things onto the right track (harder to believe by the day ), which is another reason we currently will not speak about it. When that situation changes, you'll very likely find an announcement.

    Unhappy Spyhunter 3

If I get the gist of this cryptic message it's to remove the app although I have paid £29 for it?

I know this is not a satisfactory answer, but the gist is that we would love to educate you about the details, but since Enigma does not play by the industries (ASCs) rules, are too hesitant to endanger anyone here.

As you can see here, we generally do not recommend any tool from a company that is not a member of the ASC. The ASC isn't all-white, but it's an important starting point.

You may thank Enigma for not taking the ASCs vendor dispute or conflict resolution route, but one that disables us to help you in your decision. As I wrote before, we're doing our best to fix that.

    1. Investigations of Spyhunter Version 3.9.25 of 18-03-2009 show,
that the software does not comply with the ASCs
    (http://www.antispywarecoalition.org) definitions for
    classification as malware or spyware.

    2. Safer-Networking Ltd. will not give subsequent reviews of older
    versions of Spyhunter.

    3. Questions about data transfered to the web by Spyhunter should be
    addressed to Enigma.

    4. If you suspect Spyhunter (later than 3.9.25 of 18.03.2009) of
complying with ASCs definitons for classification as malware,
please send your information to detections@spybot.info
