If this was my system, I would keep the TT disabled and install SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard, this is not overkill , running more than one AntiVirus program is, installing these will not hamper system performance.

NO TT and will download Spyware Blaster & SpyGuard; as per your suggestion. I hate hearing "I told you so" when I get in trouble again later. Only way I can cover my ass is to follow your path.
