You can remove these via the Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

I use NIS (Norton Internet Security ) Norton is a love hate relationship, myself, I have never had any issues with it and have it 3 of of my systems. It includes a firewall and a host of other goodies

Remember this all about personal preference, you use what you like and are comfortable with, just keep it updated and run a scan about once aweek
