    Default Question about new spybot

I installed the latest version this morning and it almost seemed like I had to do a complete install of spybot,,sorta like I never had the earlier version,,then when I updated the new version it gave me some updates from 2008,,is this normal?? I had all the latest updates from the older version that this replaced,,and I update every week without exception. Thanks

Kinda strange,,I just tried to update again and it listed two more updates from 2008,,I d/l'ed them,,but wonder why it didn't pick them up the first time I updated this morning?? And again,,why am I getting updates from 2008?

spybot seems to be running fine,,all the latest updates have been installed,,I was just wondring why i was getting updates from 2008,,I'll wait until the next updates are issued and see what I get,,if I'm still getting updates from 2008 I'll uninstall spybot and then re-install,,,btw,,it wasn't necessary to un-install the last version prior to installing the latest version,,was it??

btw I did try to cancel the installation because it was taking so long,,I think it was because the servers were so busy this morning when I d/l'ed the new version,,but I did eventually get the install to work,,do you think thats why it did it,,I mean I've upgraded to every version that has been here since I've first started using spybot,,and I don't remember having to go thru all the instructions as if I was installing spybot for the very first time,,,,I don't know,,I just hope its running OK. I've run several scans and that seems to work OK,,I'm more concerned with the real time protection,,which is enabled. Just kinda strange what happened

This might sound stupid but,,is there anyway to know if spybot is operating correctly?? Also,,is there anywhere to check on what updates have been installed?,,thanks for being so considerate with me as I'm a pretty novice computer user when it comes to all this.

Well, I'm not sure if there is a function to tell if Spybot is working correctly. Your question was a bit vague.

As for the definitions, it'll tell you the latest definitions and the version in the About section (that'll tell you that you have the latest updates and it has been installed). If Spybot scans and updates correctly, then there shouldn't be anything wrong with it. What was wrong?

My orginal question was why was I getting updates that went back to 2008 when I installed the latest version of spybot,,but,,I installed the latest version yesterday on two laptops we have and the same 2008 updates were available to d/l,,which I did,,I guess I was just confused as to why a few 2008 updates were listed when I always updated the previous version,,,everything seems to be working A-OK so I'll just leave it at that. Thanks for your help.
