Pop-ups from google, spybot not running properly

Hi I'm having a few problems with my computer. I'm getting pop-ups when I click on results from search engines. I downloaded ad-aware and that was able to remove a number or browser hijackers (I think that's what they were called)

I then tried downloading Spybot S&D, but I got an error saying it couldn't resolve the host. I managed to get on here and get it installed from a direct link, with the install updates immediately box unchecked. But when I try to open it nothing comes up. Is there meant to be some sort of interface? All I can access is the menu from right clicking the icon in the system tray.

Hi there,

Disable Spybot's TeaTimer to make sure it won't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:

Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode
If it is not already set to do this, go to the Mode menu
select
Advanced Mode
On the left hand side, click on Tools
Then click on the Resident icon in the list
Uncheck
Resident TeaTimer
and OK any prompts.
Restart your computer

Download ResetTeaTimer.bat to the Desktop (right click the link and select save)

Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer (and preventing TeaTimer to restore them upon reactivation).

I am unable to run spybot, whenever I click on it nothing happens. Should I disable TeaTimer by ending it in the processes list, and then run combofix or what should I do?

Yes, do like you said there and kill TeaTimer process thru task manager.

Hi, I ran combofix ok there and it had to restart during it, teatimer was back on whenever it was finished so I don't know if that affected it.

Hi,

Looks better but there are some steps left

Disable Spybot's TeaTimer to make sure it won't interfere with fixes. This should now work. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:

Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode
If it is not already set to do this, go to the Mode menu
select
Advanced Mode
On the left hand side, click on Tools
Then click on the Resident icon in the list
Uncheck
Resident TeaTimer
and OK any prompts.
Restart your computer

Download ResetTeaTimer.bat to the Desktop (right click the link and select save)

Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer (and preventing TeaTimer to restore them upon reactivation).

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.

Please run an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner as instructed in the screenshot here. If you get a message that latest Java must be installed "enable" the Java add-ons in IE7. Do that using "manage add-ons" from the IE7 toolbar.

Post back its report, a fresh hjt log and above mentioned ComboFix resultant log.
