    Hi

Seems to be correct ComboFix log

However, it seems you uploaded c:\windows\System32\fltlib.dll instead of c:\windows\System32\fltlib32.dll. Could you upload the latter mentioned and post back the results for it?

    How's the system running?

    Question Cannot find c:\windows\System32\fltlib32.dll

I went back to VirusTotal and browsed for the file and cannot find c:\windows\System32\fltlib32.dll I only see one that says \fltlib.dll. I've ran search a few times looking for fltlib32.dll under c:\windows\System32 and it is not finding anything. I made sure I told it to search hidden and system files and it did not find it. Am I looking in the wrong place?

    Hi

No, the file may not necessarily exist.

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

    Code:
    Registry::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]
    "AppInit_DLLs"=""

    Save this as
    CFScript

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
Then post the resultant log & a fresh dds.txt log. How's the system running?

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

Default Combofix log and new dds log

It started running much better yesterday, I think. Anyway it was after the day I was using Google Chrome to access internet. Then I started using IE and it was slow, but allowed me internet access w/out issues. My computer is booting more smoothly (I went in and found out how to disable several programs from coming up in the start menu). It would take my computer so long just to run all the start menu programs and I'd have to wait to do anything. Once we get this cleared up, then I have some questions for you. Oh also, this time when I ran ComboFix, copied and closed out the log, I did not have to reboot...yeah! The last couple of times I rebooted (I failed to read you post saying how to disable things in the task manager)...my bad.

    Default Questions...

Im going to go ahead and post my questions, so that they can get answered when you are available to do so. I really didnt think this troubleshooting was going to take so long to do, but we only got 24 hrs in a day and we both got other things to do...LOL Here are my questions and concerns...

    1) I had a pop up that wanted me to allow or disallow sdman to access my computer. I think i chose disallow a long time ago (dont remember why), but now IM not sure. Not even sure what sdman is.

    2) I saw that there are still AVG files (or thought I did) on my computer. Should they stay there? My employer recommends AVG, but when I had it loaded on my computer it seemed to slow it down or stall things, so I got rid of it. I didnt really like it anyways. I found other programs I liked better and use those instead.

    3) I also saw housecall on my computer. Its by TrendMicro and it scans your computer for virus and stuff. Another employer recommended it and I've used it a few times. It always takes a long time for it to start scanning and that bothered me. Should that stay or go?

    4) smitfraud...ive seen this being scanned by spybot before, but i dont remember it asking me to remove or quarantine it. so is that now gone.

    5) How do i get rid of Partypoker?

Got more, but it can wait till we are done w/the trouble shooting.

    Hi

    1) That seems to belong to Sabre Device Manager process. No need to worry about it

    2) Yes, it's recommended to remove remnants. Answer for question 5 contains an entry that has to be fixed with HijackThis.

    3) You may uninstall it or leave it there. Since you don't have to run it all the time it won't slow down your normal PC using.

    4) When Spybot does it scanning there appears all kind of infection names during the scan. That's normal. Only those in final results count.

    5) Fix following entries with HijackThis:
    O2 - BHO: WormRadar.com IESiteBlocker.NavFilter - {3CA2F312-6F6E-4B53-A66E-4E65E497C8C0} - C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgssie.dll (file missing)
    O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocvw.dll
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocvw.dll

After fixing the entries reboot and post a fresh HijackThis log.

    Default HJT Log

Questions: 1) Is HJT a good program to use when I remove a program that I no longer want, I can scan with HJT and remove any left overs of that program from there?

    2) Where did my issues come from? Limewire? Because my daughter put it here looking for songs. I somehow looked at a Limewire (file folder?) and saw there were some songs she was trying to get that said "corrupt file" or something and then I saw a list of stuff that was of adult nature that came from limewire as well. That's when I removed Limewire from my computer.

    3) I've got Rhapsody here too and thought I seen a bad file there but I had Rhapsody for a few years w/no issues and removed it, then put it back on because my dd wanted the songs I purchased on her Zune.

    1) HJT is not meant in removing programs. Programs should be uninstalled thru add/remove programs when possible. If something is stubborn then Windows Cleanup utility can be used. There're also specific removal tools for programs made by program creators like Symantec removal tool for example.

    2) Downloading music from P2P networks is mostly illegal. There're exceptions when some bands decide to share their creations in P2P but those are quite rare. What it comes to possibility get infected cos of P2P. Yes, that's possibly and major part of infections are gotten from P2P networks nowadays.

    3) Rhapsody should be safe.

Any other questions or shall we move to the final steps of cleaning process?

Well congrats, it appears your system is all clean Are you still noticing any problems? If not, it's time to secure your system to prevent against further intrusions.

    THESE STEPS ARE VERY IMPORTANT

    Let's reset system restore
Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected. Please note you need Administrator Access to do clean the restore points.

    1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

    2. Reboot.

    3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
NOTE: only do this ONCE,NOT on a regular basis

    Now lets uninstall ComboFix:
    • Click START then RUN
    • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

Delete dds.scr file and related log files.

    UPDATING WINDOWS AND INTERNET EXPLORER

IMPORTANT: You Need to Update Windows and Internet Explorer to protect your computer from the malware that is around on the Internet. Please go to the windows update site to get the critical updates.

If you are running Microsoft Office, or any portion thereof, go to the Microsoft's Office Update site and make sure you have at least all the critical updates installed (Free) Microsoft Office Update.

Make your Internet Explorer more secure

This can be done by following these simple instructions:
From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
Click once on the Security tab
Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
Click once on the Custom Level button.
Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

The following are recommended third party programs that are designed to keep your computer clean. A link as well as a brief description is included with each item.

    • hosts file:
      • Every version of windows has a hosts file as part of them.
      • In a very basic sense, they are used to locate webpages.
      • We can customize a hosts file so that it blocks certain webpages.
      • However, it can slow down certain computers.
      • This is why using a hosts file is optional!!

Download it here. Make sure you read the instructions on how to install the hosts file. There is a good tutorial here
If you decide to download the hosts file, the slowdown problems can usually be avoided by following these steps:
      1. Click the start button (at the lower left hand corner of your screen)
      2. Click run
      3. In the dialog box, type services.msc
      4. hit enter, then locate dns client
      5. Highlight it, then double-click it.
      6. On the dropdown box, change the setting from automatic to manual.
      7. Click ok

Just a final reminder for you. I am trying to stress these two points.
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!! Make sure you do this about every 1-2 weeks.
Make sure all of your security programs are up to date.
Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

Once again, please post and tell me how things are going with your system... problems etc.

    Have a great day,
    Blade
