    Unhappy Malware Defender 2009

I need some help. My mom's computer is a laptop and it's recently become un-usable. Malware Defender 2009 is trying to make her download their program, and since I've encountered malware before, I un-installed it, deleted the prefetch, dumped the recycling bin, ran and search, didn't find it. Restarted the computer, and it was back! Went online at home on my computer and the microsoft site says it's a windows product?? My computers at home and at work don't seem to have it running, so I'm still pretty sure it's malware itself, but when I went to the site (http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist) where I have checked startup items out (if they're good or bad) this one isn't even listed??
Totally lost, would appreciate any help anyone could give me. Thanks!

I'm trying to do what you are telling me here. Unfortunately, I'm new to message boards so I'm a little clueless as to what to do. Regarding downloading and running all these programs....I can't? On my mom's computer you can't even play solitaire, the Malware Defender takes over, so I'm not sure how I can manage to download all these tools?
Sorry to be a pain, not knowing what I'm doing here...I guess I really am a NOOB?

If you can't read and follow those directions, you had better ask someone with computer experience for help. It does not get easier from here.

    Thanks
