Virus did much mayhem!
I believe I was hit with some sort of Trojan or something of that nature. From the looks of it, I think I got rid of it, or it is embedded so well that nothing can detect it. Either way, it disabled many things on my computer. Whatever it is, it disabled Spybot, Trend Micro, I can no longer update my Windows Vista for anything. I go to Microsoft.com to install updates manually, and I keep getting redirected to "page timed out" or a "404 page not found". Therefore somehow I can not download anything from microsoft.com. It's as if the whole website for downloads has crashed, so I don't know what kind of virus can prevent you from downloading manually from the website itself, but the whatever hit my computer has. I try to download from the update program for vista, and it comes back with this,
"Windows Update error 80070422, 80244019, or 8DDD0018
If you receive one of these errors while downloading updates, the most common cause is a computer virus that has turned off the Windows Automatic Update, or another service on your computer that is needed by Windows Update." My error is 80244019.
I uninstalled spybot, then tried to reinstall it, and it says," Error sending request, the server name or address could not be resolved". I try to go to the safer networking website, and I get a "Page timed out" or a "404 not found" as well.
I have Trend Micro Pro for my A.V., and it even disabled the updates for that as well! I now have to go to the website and download this hot_fix for the problem manually anytime it needs an update. This is the only one I can update manually though, at least. There also are certain folders, like my music folder, that I will open, then all of a sudden it says, "Windows Explorer has stopped working". I know that all these problems stem from the same virus that hit my computer.
I believe that Trend Micro did find it and quarantine it, but I can not delete the malware it has quarantined. I will run the scan now, and it does not detect any virus. If any of the virus is still here, I need help getting rid of it, otherwise I need help with the programs the virus disabled,, including Spybot. Here are the HJT logs:
