Please open your own thread next time. Otherwise, it could be very confusing if more people add their problems in a foreign thread.

Which other security tools (firewall, antivirus, antispyware, etc.) do you have installed onto your computer?

If Windows has started, open the Task Manager and look for a process called TeaTimer.exe ... can you find it?
    Hello Matt,

Thank you for the prompt response and advising me of the protocol here.

In answer to your question, I'm using ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite. It is a firewall with integrated AV. I thought that it might be the culprit so I tried restarting Windows without it starting up but that did not correct the problem. Once TeaTimer started up, it immediately shut down.

You didn't answer this question or did you with your sentence

    ?

Open Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident, is TeaTimer activated there? Can you enable it?

Can you find any logs or alerts at ZoneAlarm?
    Best regards - Beste Grüße,

    Matt

Sorry, I missed that last question.

I checked TaskManager and it does not show TeaTimer as started. I checked Spybot Resident to see if TeaTimer is enabled and it is.

I also checked my ZA logs and I found one entry for it which shows that it was allowed to start a process.

    I decided to try unchecking:
Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident > Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) active.

I then re-checked it and went to Windows Task Manager to see if the process showed up. It did. It lasted about one or two seconds and then disappeared. As of yet, I cannot explain why this is happening. I've even tried uninstalling Spybot S&D and reinstalling and even that did not correct the problem. I am at a loss.

Malware possibly disabling TeaTimer? That could be a first...
Shadow, what version of Spybot are you running (Help>About)?

I am running version 1.6.2.46. I just installed it again and as soon as I added the new updates, TeaTimer shut down.

I stand corrected. TeaTimer seems to be running fine now. Not sure why but there it is.

    Magic .
If you have any further questions feel free to ask.

TeaTimer has two modes of monitoring FYI, the 'old' way (Paranoid Mode) and the new way of monitoring (it automatically allows legitimate processes for you).
