    Default SpywareProtect2009

My neighbor got some kind of trojan named SpywareProtect2009. I tried to install Spybot S&D to detect/remove it, and it seemed to install fine. I get the icon in the lower right. But when I try to run Spybot, either from there or from the Start menu, it won't run. It looks like it tries to run (I see the hourglass) but then...nothing. It's like SpywareProtect is blocking it or something. This happens in safe mode also (I'm not sure SpywareProtect is running, but Spybot won't run).
Does anyone know of this malware? Can you tell me how to get Spybot running properly?
