    Default launch problem is back

I am having problem again launching programs. For example, Spybot wont launch. It says Spybot encountered a problem and needs to close.

Then that might indicate hardware issues.

Is it OK to redirect you some windows forum for that?

    Default where we left off

I only followed your instructions up to
"install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 13".

I cant install this Java program because I can't launch the set up file that I downloaded from the Sun site.

Default I think I fixed the problem

In my first post, I stated, "I have made numerous changes to startup using spybot and msconfig." The reason I did this is that I was afraid that some of these startup programs were malware. Therefore I liberally unchecked the startup programs.

I just opened msconfig and went to the startup tab. There I rechecked most everything except programs that I know for sure I dont need.

I rebooted, and programs are now launching okay now.

Hopefully, none of the startup programs that I checked in msconfig are malware.

I just installed the updated version of Java and will continue with your instructions as time permits.

    Those are not necessarily infected.

Have you set that windows doesn't supervise antivirus and updates status?

    Default not necessarily

I dont know. Should I set windows to not supervise updates?

If so, how do I do that?
