Please help in big trouble_virus

My daughter loaded a virus onto her laptop dell inspiron 8600 - running win xp- the virus locked me out of the register editor, won't recgonize any flash drives-locked out of internet- will not read or write a c/d---will not start in safe mode-----it will recognize the flash drive in device manager but thats it---I know I'm dead but is there a way to just get her word files and pictures off this machine??? please help sincerely Norm

Norm, since it appears you missed the directions, they are posted at the top of this forum and I put the "Before you Post" link above. From the limited information you provided, there is no way I can know if I can help. Read and follow the directions and I will take a look.
