    Hello,

We are sorry that there is a problem with IE8 and the Immunization of Spybot.

Spybot - Search & Destroy adds sites to the restricted zones during the immunization. IE 8 is proving every entry that is added to the restricted zones, so this is causing a hang of the software. We hope to solve this problem soon.

For now we can only recommend to undo the immunization.

Please have a look at the news on our homepage: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/news/2009-03-25.html

This has also been discussed in our forum: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread...654#post299654

    Exclamation

I MAY HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION

Launch IE8, goto Tools menu and DISABLE SmartScreenFilter

SmartScreenFilter is IE8's unsafe site blocker. It's doing the same thing that SpyBot S&D does.

From some quick tests, this "fix" seems to solve the slowdown when IE8 launches a site.

Now all I have to do is get IE8 to display ALL sites properly, which it does NOT. The Compatibility function seems to be useless.

Unhappy Not a fix for me :-\

Hi, all- one issue that I've been having since updating to IE8, (aside from the slow down with the browser when immunized), is that Windows XP start up is also slowed, as is opening Windows Explorer, or even the Control panel. The problem feels similar to a problem that arises if you have a LARGE hosts file AND the DNS Client service enabled. I had to un-immunize IE8, (I use Spybot, and Spyware Blaster), which resolved not only the IE8 browser issues, but the other issues as well. I was able to leave the immunization for FireFox enabled.

To get to the point of this thread, I also went into IE8 and turned off SmartScreenFilter on all 3 computers here. Turning it off had absolutely no effect for me The only thing that worked was un-immunizing IE8. Why would Windows Explorer, XP start up etc. slow down as well as the browser?
